Shafi Sattar
Electrical Engineering, Power Systems BS/MS 2015, Honors
Shafi Sattar is an international student from Bangladesh. He is currently in the accelerated BS/MS program in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Systems and Control for his undergrad studies, and Power Systems for his graduate coursework. Shafi is interested in engineering and technology, but particularly passionate about the field of alternative and renewable energy systems. To follow his passion, he works with Dr. Kevin Scoles on Solar Energy and PV Systems research and also with Dr. Jason Baxter in the Nano-materials and Solar Cells research lab. He has successfully represented Drexel University in Schneider Electric's business case competition: Go Green in the City.
As part of the DAAD RISE program, Shafi will be working at TU Berlin researching SmartGrids and Net Integration of Electric Vehicles to the Grid. The research is aimed at exploring the potential of Electric Vehicles to act as grid level storage solutions for wider adoption of renewable energies.
In his free time, Shafi loves to travel and explore new places. As a hobby, he likes to read books and work on small electronics projects using micro-controllers and raspberry pi's. He also takes a keen interest in participating and competing in different types of sporting activities such as flag football and basketball.
